Lupita Almaraz Aguilar always liked words, and fashion.

Lupita Almaraz Aguilar always liked words, and fashion.

She also likes relationships, romance and life in general.

She is upbeat, serious, funny, sad and a self-described go-getter.

What could she be? Well, the title in her book says it all. “If The Hat Fits” than you must be that and more.

Almaraz Aguilar, you see, is a poet and much more. Her book is a collection of sentimental and eclectic poems that date back to her childhood. Her poems cover all aspects of life from everyday occurrences to marriage, dealing with Mexican moms and death.

Losing her daughter at a young age helped shape her adult life. She writes about pain she cannot share and tears no one will see. Growing up in a small South Texas town defines her down-to-earth and never-surrender attitude.

Sandia Woman has First Book Published

“Words are a powerful thing and when put together in a sequence they can tell a story. While everyone lives a different life, the situations can relate to one another. After years of putting her dream on hold, Lupita Almaraz Aguilar . . .”

“Author presents copies of her first published book to HHS graduates”

HEBBRONVILLE - Lupita Almaraz Aguilar is a Sandia resident who recently had her first book of poetry published. She decided that she would give back to her hometown with words that they could carry at all times.

On May 26, Aguilar arrived at Hebbronville High School for and gave the graduating Class of 2020 a signed copy of her book, “If The Hat Fits.”

In collaboration with the Jim Hogg County Independent School District ACE Program, Aguilar presented each 2020 HHS Senior with a copy of her book as a special token to make their graduation a bit special as they have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis. These seniors deserve all the recognition and special attention and Aguilar is proud to have been a part of it, Aguilar said in a press release.

Anyone who would like a copy of the same book can find it on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Walmart and other book stores.
